Liverpool is always great city to visit, with a fabulous history of music obviously epitomized by The Beatles, that famous scouse wit and a buzzing night-life. The night-time entertainment will be all the more bounteous this summer. Carnivals and festivals will be parading through the streets at every opportunity. There will be mountains of food and fountains of drink, concerts, comedy and spectacular shows, awe-inspiring art and mind-blowing drama. It will be a non-stop extravaganza you simply cannot afford to miss.

Theatre in the Park, 1st-30th June: Some of Liverpool’s lesser known parks aretransformed into magical wonderlands as the Spike Theatre presents Alice in Wonderland live.

Africa Oye, 21st-22nd June: A FREE African Music Festival in Sefton Park celebrating the best musical talent Africa has to offer.

International Shanty Festival, 19th-20th July: The world’s leading showcase of maritime songs and music including genres such as Cajun, Celtic and Folk Rock.

Spirit on Water, 1st January­1st August: A celebration of Liverpool’s maritime history is encapsulated in a giant wind and water-powered environmental sculpture.

Wirral Food and Drink Festival, 24th- 25th August: As promised, mountains of food and fountains of drink and it’s all home-grown loveliness.

CARNIVAL WEEKEND FESTIVAL

Prepare for a weekend of heady fun and frolics! The weekend of the 1st-3rd August will see Liverpool's streets come alive, hosting the Carnival Weekend Festival.

A highlight of the weekend will include the Emperor and the Tiger. Don't miss this spectacular firework folk story. The Brouhaha Carnival Procession is a massive multicultural parade. Music from the Samba School radiates a Rio style carnival to the streets of Liverpool on the Saturday night. Step into the party mood and head to the streets to join in the fun!
